記述

The crusades 11th - 13th century, by C. Lebédel, Ed. Ouest France, 6-½ inches x 9-½ inches ( 17 cm x 24 cm ), softcover book with 128 full color pages

This softcover book with 128 full color pages retraces the history of crusades from 1096 (arrival of the first Crusaders to Constantinople) to 1303 (abandonment by the Templars of the Islet of Rouad, in front of Tartous currently in Syria) in a geographical space that goes from Tunis to Istanbul.
The crusades took place over two hundred years in the present territories of Syria, Lebanon, Israel; Palestine and Jordan. They have remained very present in the collective memory of peoples. Their interpretation for a long time has undoubtedly been excessive from the western point of view alone without taking sufficient account of that of the Islamic world and without questioning what these crusades could represent for the local Christian populations. Addressing all political and religious aspects, this text makes it possible to qualify the propaganda conveyed on the Muslims, And to see the complexity of the religious communities involved, especially on the side of the Christians of the East (Orthodox church of the Byzantine Empire).
