This wonderful book with 160 full color pages and 250 illustrations presents the work of
Roger Capron, the French pottery artist who worked in the 1950' in Vallauris - south of France.
After following the teaching of designer René Gabriel, whose influence has profoundly influenced
the young generation of designers of the 50s, Roger Capron chose to become a ceramist.
In 1946 he founded with Robert Picault, the Callis workshop in Vallauris.
It was during this period that appears forms and representations emblematic of his work:
branches, stylized figures, suns and geometric patterns.
In the late '50s, the order of a fresco of 300 m2 for the ferry terminal of Cannes
introduced him to architectural ceramics.
Three years later, he realized the sandstone dance floor of the famous Hotel Byblos in Saint-Tropez.
Nowadays, at more than eighty years, his work is being eagerly embraced by collectors worldwide.
Galleries regularly exhibit his work in Germany, Canada and the United States.

Personnage aux multiples facettes, Roger Capron est le seul céramiste français de son époque
qui ait à la fois accompli une importante oeuvre artistique et fondé une entreprise industrielle de premier plan.
Après avoir suivi l'enseignement du décorateur René Gabriel, dont l'influence a profondément marqué
la jeune génération de créateurs des années 50, Capron choisit de devenir céramiste.
En 1946, il crée avec Robert Picault l'atelier Callis à Vallauris.
C'est à cette période qu'apparaissent les formes et les représentations emblématiques de son travail :
branchages, personnages stylisés, soleils et motifs géométriques.
A la fin des années 50, la commande d'une fresque de 300 m2 pour la gare maritime de Cannes
lui fait découvrir la céramique architecturale.
Trois ans plus tard, il réalise la piste de danse en grès du fameux hôtel Byblos à Saint-Tropez.
Aujourd'hui, à plus de quatre-vingts ans, son oeuvre fait l'objet d'un véritable engouement
de la part des collectionneurs à travers le monde.
Des galeries exposent régulièrement son oeuvre en Allemagne, au Canada et aux Etats-Unis.
